Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the European Union has
embarked on a reforestation project for three sectors in the Viti Levu
Sugar Belt.
These are degraded foothills in Drasa in Lautoka, Koronubu in Ba, and Malolo in Nadi, which will be managed by Reforest Fiji.
The project aims to improve watershed management and generate further income to nearby rural communities through the establishment of tree plantations.
There are also plans to develop reference and training documents, manuals and guidelines for the effective and efficient management of the forests
